Gaming Thoughts | Heartopia
Heartopia has just released on Steam and it’s been talked about for the last few months through its beta events. I didn’t bother starting it before the beta closed since I caught it a bit too late, the official release was close by anyway.
With that said, I’ve been playing it obsessively and I clearly have thoughts;
The art style is cute, the quests feel a little more on the simple side. While the map looks big, it’s really not. They provide a motor bike in one of the quests as well as other vehicles you can buy either with in game money or real money. But even if you decide not to, there’s also a bus system. Much like Little Sim World does.
Progressing through the story and unlocking all the hobbies doesn’t seem time gated nor does it take long as long as you stick to the main story quests. They do try to pack on a bunch of side quests which if you’re anything like me, it’s easy to get distracted and find yourself down one side story line when you thought you were doing the main. It’s a thing. It happens.

There are little area’s scattered around the map like this, shown above, that feel like were set up specifically for screenshots lol. I do love how different and very on theme every little area is, and usually around animals. There’s a cute quest where you get to feed the animals, but before you’re able to unlock that, when you run into them, you visibly see their stomachs growling, it’s so sad.
The game does have a gatcha aspect to it and a cash shop. While it’s nothing as heavy as Infinity Nikki or anything, it’s still a thing. I don’t feel as compelled to buy things from the cash shop and I’m more interested in the rotating daily stock in the actual in game shops.
The new banner event for the fairycore stuff is really getting me though, everything is so cute but I struggle with building houses in games and as much as I want to make the most cozy utopia for myself… well, I’ve made and cleared one too many blueprints as it is. I’ve even tried to make a tree house and that didn’t come out too well either.

Heartopia is a cute super chill game that allows you to move at your own pace but in a social server. Crafting doesn’t seem to be a huge point in this game but gathering can be. Selling your findings can be a little hard since there isn’t a store to sell to but a person and he’s usually on the move.
The community on it is so sweet. I like going around watering everyone’s flowers since additional watering gives you a bigger chance at cross breeding and while I don’t expect it back, it’s always so sweet to come back to my plot and see people have. Like really, I love this community.
That being said, finding what makes the most money is a bit of the challenging part for a lot of us right now since there isn’t much info or anything on it just yet. There are a few videos of what people do to make money on the game which typically includes making Black Truffle Pie, the truffles themselves only spawn in one area in the forest, with only 3-4 nodes and respawn every 15 minutes. Besides that, Shiitake Mushrooms are much easier to gather and making Grilled Shiitake Mushrooms also makes a decent amount of money though if I’m being honest, I prefer to make Shiitake Truffle Pie but it does eat up your wheat which there never seems to be enough of — I’ll probably make another post about this later once I figure out the most profitable and easiest way to make money lol.
For those who are completionist’s like myself, there’s a lot of things to collect and unlock. Every time you level one of your “hobbies” you unlock more things to find the downside is that gardening and cooking don’t level evenly and so you can unlock recipes but you won’t have access to some of the things it needs making it not possible to make that certain dish. At least, that’s something that sort of irks me lol.
It’s been over a month and I’ve finally unlocked Strawberries and Corn even though I’ve gotten the Corn Soup recipe weeks ago. Leveling the DG in order to level your hobbies is also uneven and I’ve had a few hobbies just waiting to be upgraded but I had no hobby credits to upgrade them.
There’s a lot of technical stuff that goes into this game just like there is with Infinity Nikki that can seem super overwhelming at first but Heartopia just does it cuter.
Now if only I could figure out how to build a really cute tree house…
Have you played Heartopia or thought about starting it? Let me know in the comments!
